Friday, 11/15: A Full Moon and a Full Heart
Friday was a day that blended nourishment, productivity, and meaningful connection. I started the morning slowly, savoring a sunny 60° day with a cappuccino sweetened with maple syrup. Sitting outdoors, I soaked in the sunlight while reading The Heart of the Soul by Gary Zukav. This simple act of stillness felt grounding, a reminder of the restorative power of being present in nature.
The day’s productivity included preparing a hearty pot of deer stew—a colorful mix of vegetables and tender meat. The aroma of the stew filled the house when I returned after working from 2:00 until 5:00. Rachel joined me for dinner, bringing a sense of warmth and connection to the evening. We paired the stew with cornbread made using an organic cornmeal with a recipe sourced from ChatGPT.
As the full moon illuminated the night, we dove into a deep conversation about holistic healing. We discussed the importance of addressing emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being as interconnected elements of healing, emphasizing the importance of addressing trapped emotions and limiting beliefs through mindfulness and journaling. These moments of shared reflection brought clarity and inspiration to my healing journey.
Ending the evening in my hammock, I reflected on the layered progress of recovery. While I still faced physical limitations, the day had been rich in moments of fulfillment and gratitude.
Saturday, 11/16: A Day of Ease
Saturday unfolded as a day of ease and exploration. I spent nearly two hours sunbathing in the yard, enjoying the warmth and good conversation with my friend. The sunshine felt invigorating, providing a much-needed dose of vitamin D. Afterward, we took a short trip to Tryon to check out a possible housing unit that my friend wanted to see.
On the way back, we chose a scenic route through the countryside, driving along the scenic dirt roads below Columbus. The roads below Columbus revealed both beauty and the lingering impact of Hurricane Helene’s floods, a sobering reminder of nature’s dual power to nurture and devastate.
Back home, I spent time inputting data into my Notion database, an activity that always feels grounding and productive. The evening brought a sense of magic as I prepared a warm cup of cacao and delved into astrology. Sitting with Lokah, my amazing cat, I felt the simplicity and stillness of the day settle into my bones.
Just before midnight, I stumbled upon this video on Youtube. It quickly attracted my attention!
Sunday, 11/17: New Perspectives and Systems Thinking
Sunday began with a continuation of Saturday night’s reflection. Inspired by the documentary Zeitgeist: Moving Forward, I explored themes of societal systems and the socioeconomic health gradient. This new perspective sparked a deep curiosity about how structures of wealth and power influence well-being.
The day’s highlight was my niece’s sixth birthday party at the local park. Watching her joy and excitement was a reminder of the simple yet profound moments that make life rich. After the party, my nephew Jace joined me at home, where we built a fire in the backyard. Rebekah and Ava stopped by, and the kids played while the adults chatted, adding a lively energy to the evening.
Later that night, I started the documentary Zeitgeist – Addendum, diving deeper into its exploration of the monetary system’s role in shaping modern society. Quotes like Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s “None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free” resonated deeply, offering new angles to consider in my own healing journey.
The film examines how the monetary system was devised as a tool for wealth redistribution, moving resources and energy from the bottom to the top. It made thought-provoking comparisons to historical systems like feudalism, colonialism, and slavery, emphasizing that while the mechanisms may evolve, the underlying power dynamics often remain the same. One quote that struck me deeply was John Adams: “There are two ways to conquer and enslave a nation. One is by the sword. The other is by debt.” Essentially, inflation is all by design, due to an ever increasing money supply.
Reflections from the Weekend
These three days were a blend of movement and stillness, connection and introspection.
• Milestones: Sitting by the fire with family and friends, preparing nourishing meals, and diving into thought-provoking studies felt like wins on my path to recovery.
• Setbacks: Lingering nerve pain served as a gentle reminder to respect my body’s pace and adapt where necessary.
• Discoveries: The exploration of systems thinking and holistic healing deepened my understanding of how interconnected our lives and environments truly are.
As I continue to heal, these moments of joy, learning, and presence serve as guiding lights, reminding me of the beauty in both progress and the journey itself.
